Flashes of Hope at Tufts University The Children's Cancer Hospital

For a few moments, it doesn't seem like a hospital. Children who haven't wanted to get out of bed are suddenly laughing and smiling. And, nurses take a break from administering medicine to join in the fun. The joy on their faces surely made me realize the profound effect this makes on these children's day. http://www.flsahesofhope.org We visited the transplant unit in order to photograph a few of the children that simply could not get out of bed.

Each month our volunteers transform hospital playrooms, waiting areas and even hallways into photography studios. Talented make-up artists help the children and their moms look and feel their best. Then each child is photographed individually and with their closest supporters - siblings, parents and often a favorite nurse.

Each family is presented with framed enlargements, proofs and a CD of all the images so they can make additional prints. Thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, all services are provided free of charge.

A Flashes of Hope portrait is much more than a picture on the wall. It's an indescribable treasure that forever preserves the grace, dignity and beauty of each child.

MIRRORMAGAZINE publicó su primer número el pasado 20 de junio, consiguió más de 10.000 visitas en pocos días y más de mil seguidores en Facebook. En su segundo número conseguimos 149.000 visitas y hace un par de semanas en nuestro número tres hemos alcanzado las 180.000.

La IDEA de la publicación surgió de Diego Rando y Hugo Saiz, y enseguida se involucró a Emilio Mateo por su gran capacidad para la escritura y buen gusto fotográfico. Está comprobado que internet está lleno de fotógrafos, anónimos y conocidos. Muchos de ellos cuelgan sus fotos en redes sociales, foros de fotografía, crean páginas web personales, editan blogs, etc. ¿Por qué no ofrecerles un ESPACIO DE CALIDAD, con una buena maquetación y presentación? Pensamos en conjugar artistas noveles con otros consolidados, y también dar la opción de descubrir nuevos talentos como la fotógrafa Cristina Otero que descubrimos en nuestro número 2 y unos meses después con tan solo 15 años ha sido noticia en muchos medios por sus autorretratos.

La idea empezó a desarrollarse y optamos por NO CENTRARNOS en un estilo fotográfico concreto, sino buscar un NIVEL DE CALIDAD ÓPTIMO. Por eso en MirrorMagazine hay fotografía de viajes, artística, retrato, de moda, etc.

El PROYECTO no ha sido nada fácil, sobre todo por el hecho de reunir tanto fotógrafo con renombre en tan poco tiempo, sin saber muy bien cómo y dónde iban a parar sus trabajos. Han participado ya en la revista fotógrafos nacionales como Rebeca Saray, el valenciano David Arnal, Diego Verges, y el aragonés Victor Lax, y fotógrafos internacionales como Hengki Koentjoro o Ankha Zhuraleva. Una vez han visto el proyecto acabado, todo han sido felicitaciones. Descubrimos también los retratos inquietantes de Marti Ardiñach, y a Gonzalez Manso, destinado a ser uno de los grandes fotógrafos de publicidad de nuestro país. Para el número 3 hemos captado a los fotógrafos internacionales Frederik Odman o Joel Grimes.

Nuestro COMPROMISO ha sido que los portfolios de los fotógrafos aparecieran en un espacio de calidad y con un buen gusto estético, de lo que se encarga nuestro diseñador gráfico Hugo, cuyo trabajo está siendo más que excepcional. Hemos recibido ya trabajos de Rusia, Indonesia, EEUU, España, etc.

Contamos con la COLABORACIÓN de especialistas en fotografía como Pere Larrégula, gran fotógrafo de cosmética y que domina como nadie la iluminación. Pere imparte todos los cursos de este género para canonistas y tiene su sección de Iluminación PRO en la revista. Otra especialista es Vampy, cuyo blog es muy conocido y tiene su sección de Tutoriales. Su capacidad para transmitir la información es increíble, se centra en Photoshop y cubrimos así el tema de procesado de fotos. Otros colaboradores de MirrorMagazine son la periodista Ana Maria Mata, Alfonso Cavero coordinador de emisoras de radio de la Comunidad Valenciana, y Mapi Sanz madrileña y especialista en moda.

Dadas las CARACTERÍSTICAS de la revista y la importancia de la CALIDAD DE VISUALIZACIÓN DE LA IMAGEN, así como la predisposición del contenido hacia la INTERACCIÓN con el usuario, se decidió que esta plataforma era la idónea, ya que permite un gran tamaño de imagen, portabilidad e interactividad. Se prevé, a medio plazo, el desarrollo de la aplicación para otros sistemas como Android o RIM de BlackBerry.

Poco a poco, la revista adquirirá más COMPONENTES MULTIMEDIA, incluyendo vídeos, imágenes interactivas, animaciones, audio, geoposicionamiento (para visualizar los puntos geográficos donde fueron tomadas determinadas fotografías cuando esta información sea relevante), etc.

Además, la aplicación MirrorMagazine será un punto de INFORMACIÓN sobre todo lo relacionado con el mundo de la fotografía, así como un FORO de encuentro. Para ello la aplicación contará con secciones informativas como la de noticias, el directorio de fotógrafos o la sección de vídeos, y estará totalmente conectada a las principales REDES SOCIALES del momento.

En resumen, MirrorMagazine es un PROYECTO VIVO, en constante evolución, con el objetivo de ofrecer siempre una publicación de alta calidad que aproveche los últimos adelantos.

Belle Mer Rhode Island and The Newport Vinyards Wedding - Alycia and Adam are married

Adam and Alycia are simple but romantic. Adam and Alycia met a little over five years ago while he still in college at Salve Regina University. They have been together for 2 years and have a 19 month old son, Landon. Their courtship was very brief as we had a special addition to our relationship roughly 9 months later. However brief, it was the most intimate experience of my life as well as his.

After Landon was born Adam took Alycia out for a long weekend away back to Newport. It was our their first weekend away from our son. He said he was bringing her back to where it all began for the two of them. After a wonderful dinner and discussion of where and how they had come to be, they left 22 Bowens and walked through the cobble stone walk to the place where they first met. Under the white xmas lights of December with an audience from the resturaunt above, on bended knee, he proposed.

Alycia's father has an antique black 1949 chevy pickup that he graciously allowed us to use for an amazing wedding formal shoot at Newport Vinyards after leaving the Hyatt hotel. It was featured in the World of Wheels and was ridiculously perfect to go along with a perfect day.

This followed up with a sunset ceremony at Belle Mer on Goat Isand in Rhode Island. Thank you Adam and Alycia for including me such a big part of your wedding day.

Shannon and Bradford had their wedding at the amazing Wychmere Beach Club in Cape Cod. This particular weekend happened to be the weekend that Hurricane Irene was due to join us. But, we were so very lucky to have had a fantastic wedding day that held out for the storm. The slight haze in the air created a romantic mystical feel to the wedding photography that I captured that day. Shannon and Bradford both were very easy to photograph and were so completely happy.

The decor at Wychmere Beach Club is fantastic. Karen Rood was the event coordinator and just a joy to work with. I had amazing vendors to work with this day that created a stunning visual event and true professionals. The new married couple had topped their day off with a vintage Rolls Royce to drive them off into the mystic air.

Sarah and Brian Got Married at Sweet Berry Farm Rhode Island

Sweet Berry Farm was the location for this rustic vintage wedding. Complete with Berry pies, apple orchards, fields, and amazing country store. Sarah and Brian put on a wonderful wedding with the sweetest details. The flowers were natural garden feel.

Sarah had a collection of letters and details from her grandmothers wedding years ago. The box of chocolates were given to her 93 year old grandmother by her grandfather on their wedding day. Plus, there were gift notes and a bunch of amazing items in the box saved and used at Sarah's wedding. The florist, Toni Chandler, used some of the items to attach to Sarah's bouquet and completed the wrap.

There are were so many personal touches at this wedding that I could go on for hours. Truly wonderful elements that made this wedding a gem.

Boston Wedding Photography of Betty and Jason

Betty and Jason are best friends. Betty calls Jason "the love of her life". Two doctors that met during their medical school. Adorable together and clearly made for each other.

Before getting dressed up, the girls all wore the cutest matching silk robes from Victoria Secret which Betty gave them as a bridesmaids gift. I had to get an image of that and show it off. The wedding gown was a stunning dress provided by Couture Bridal Boutique and Evening Wear from L'elite, on Newbury Street in Boston. The shoes with beautiful Jimmy Choo Shoes that sparkled elegantly with her amazing gown. They married in Boston at the amazing First Baptist Church of Boston. I love this church! It has so much character and is so old and a historic landmark for Boston. The day was well over 100 degrees out, but that did not stop Betty and Jason from continuing forward and having an amazing day. Betty and Jason met for their first look photography at the Post office Square's beautiful fountain. The breeze was exhilarating and created a perfect location to also photograph family formals.

Then the party started. The State Room in Boston held the cocktail hour and then the great dinner party followed. I loved being able to be a part of their wonderful wedding day. Congratulations Betty and Jason.

Max Ryan - Born August 4, 2011 -9 Pounds 2 Ounces - Beautiful Baby Boy! Welcome!

Posie and Ryan had reached out to me to document their baby birth. With that, we started 8 months into Posie's pregnancy and did a Maternity session which lead into a labor and delivery last night at the Nashua Hopsital. Then the clock started to tick. Soon but later this little boy wanted to enter the world to join us. He was a tad late, but the minute you see his amazing face, alert eyes, and the sweetest lamb-like noise that came out of him - you know he was a special gift.

I fell in love with Posie and Ryan during the maternity session which was so much fun and really showed the "GLOW" that we often hear about. I knew from the moment I left their home that I had a truly special family to be photographing. I was so right. Perfect in love first with Posie and Ryan, but now also with Max Ryan. I can't wait to see this boy grow in the love of his family. Happy birthday Max.

Veronique Wedding - Arshad and Payson Got Married an Amazing Pakistani-American Wedding

Payson and Arshad had a wedding unique in merging of their two cultures. They purposely decided not to do two separate events - 1 pakistani, 1 American because that's not how they live their lives together - with a clear dividing line between their two cultures. Rather, they have both adopted traditions of the other and merged their cultures together, while simultaneously respecting their different heritages.

Payson and Arshad said, "While our ideal wedding is a representation of the two of us and our families - we want our guests to enjoy themselves and to maybe walk away having learned or experienced (and enjoyed) something new. As Michele Bernard, our florist put it, "It's going to be an experience." We hope to provide our guests with such an experience, while also being sure to incorporate traditions from both sides. Essentially, our wedding is a mix of old and new, east and west. We've also added lots of personal touches - for example our meal began and ended with dishes inspired by our mothers. The bride, is a fan of Sufi poetry & each table number is a framed Sufi poem. Both the bride and groom enjoy biking around the city and though the bride's dress made it difficult for their first "get away" transportation - our bikes - to be possible, we chose the 2nd best option - a boston pedi cab."

Rachel and Chris got Married at the amazing Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe Vermont. They had an elegant vintage wedding day. The lodge was stunning even in the raining weather. The mountains were lush green with foggy clouds hanging through out the tip of the mountains. Rachel was wearing beautiful Badgley Micshka Shoes and a Pronovias stunning gown from Madeleines Daughter in Portsmouth NH.

Rachel and Chris are so adorable and met at a nursing home while volunteer their time. I love their story of how they met. They have been together since and built a beautiful relationship leading them to a momentous wedding ceremony at the Trapp Family Lodge. The decor and floral design was created in a gorgeous disply. The flowers were artistically designed by Apotheca Flower Shoppe in Goffstown NH and brought to Vermont.

Before the ceremony, the groom and part of his family came to "take" the bride from the house she was at. There were relatives singing and dancing and giving wishes. They passed around candy, sang and had shots to celebrate the groom coming to take the bride. It was so amazing and really a ton of fun to be a part of. When it was time for the ceremony, the bride and groom went together to the church and the priest
met them at the front door and took them to the alter together. There is no bridal party: just maid of honor, best man, ringbearer and flowergirl.

John and Eleni met at work and have been going out for 6 years. They got engaged thanksgiving eve, just the two of them, after they bought the house they are living in. They are best friends and still as much in love as the beginning of their relationship. They have the same background and absolutely understand and complement each other.

Shaina and Christian Got Married - Newport Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

I had an amazing weekend with my bride and groom in Newport Rhode Island. Shaina and Christian got married at Belle Mer on Goat Island and had beautiful weather as a backdrop for their wedding photography. The colors of their wedding were so pretty and fitting to their style. They had a "wish tree" in place of the traditional guest book. I loved the effetcs of this personal touch.

Shaina was adorned with diamonds and feathers as accents to her beautiful gown. She had a very traditional yet classy approach to her look. Christian and Shaina had a very sweet ceremony overlooking the water and bridge on Goat Island followed by a cocktail hour and a beautiful reception. Here are some of the images of their day. They had so many wonderful wedding vendors that I would love to share with all of my upcoming bridal couples.

Yesterday, Donald Trump visited various locations in NH as soon all over the news to visit with the people and discuss various issues. He had a scheduled VIP lunch at The 100 Club in Portsmouth NH. I was asked to be the photographer at this lunch and had been so honored to have the opportunity to work directly with Donald Trump. He is an amazing successful man and wonderful to meet and listen to. I can't wait to see what he does next. Thank you for including me in this amazing day of touring NH.
